The bridges on One Step Closer and A Place for My Head, the rap sections on Points of Authority, the pre chorus on By Myself, anywhere at all. There could be hooks anywhere in each track. They're not supposed to be the most memorable part. I think I was really missing the point of the album before. Not that I didn't like it before, but now its well up there with ATS and Meteora imo. Also ATS is the best album in existence, no question.Įdit: I've been listening to this album more than before and hot damn was I wrong about this album. This is just my opinion though and I'd be interested to see what anyone else in this subreddit thinks. Them not having a fully fleshed out sound on Hybrid Theory album is understandable, however, considering this is their debut album. I think if they hadn't relied on that concept so heavily and explored the poppy choruses sooner then I might have enjoyed the album more. For me, the best part of most Linkin Park songs are the poppy sing along choruses coupled with the outstanding vocal performances from Chester (R.I.P), and I feel like they didn't really lean as heavily into those aspects of the music as they did the vocal interplay between Chester and Mike, which has become a staple of LPs music that I still personally really enjoy. Another one of my main criticisms of Hybrid Theory would be the less memorable choruses on many of the tracks (excluding In the End and Crawling). I feel like the pure nu metal riffs and more industrial electronics just didn't fit the band that well compared to the more melodic guitars as well as the less harsh and industrial sounding electronics on Meteora.

I would, however, consider it their heaviest album and their only full metal LP, as I personally consider Meteora and THP more hard rock albums, but I do think that the more radio friendly nu metal tinged hard rock sound of Meteora and THP suited the band better. But as time went on, my taste in music grew heavier so I began to understand the album more, but despite this I still never liked the album so much as to call it their best work.
Nonetheless I still didn't like Hybrid Theory as much as all the other albums. Ever since I got into Linkin Park, I've loved every single LP album (even One More Light to a certain extent), except for Hybrid Theory, which for a while I didn't even get the appeal of at all, although that could be because I was still new to music back then and my taste in metal wasn't all that heavy. Don't get me wrong, I still love Hybrid Theory and think it's a great album, with it also including some of my favourite LP tracks (Crawling and A Place for My Head), but I think naming it their best album would be a bit of a stretch. This may be the wrong time to say it, considering Hybrid Theory's 20th anniversary is in only a matter of months, but I feel like I'm the only person in the entire world who doesn't think that it's Linkin Park's best album.
